Digital, color, audio 21'43'' The video is a visual representation of my family’s matriarchal line: from great-grandmother to grandmother, from grandmother to mom, from mom to myself (the daughter). The aim was to investigate the mother-daughter relationship, or rather daughter-daughter, in three generations of the family that historically existed without the father figures, not corresponding to the model of the ideal family, embodied in Christmas advertisements, in our thought patterns and, subsequently, in the electoral leaflets. The title refers to the mavka, the mythical forest creatures of Ukrainian folklore. In the oral folk tradition of the western regions, mavkas are described as young girls with long greenish hair. They have no backs and dance in places where grass does not grow, attracting men to dance together to tickle them to death.
