Part of a series of faceless portraits. The artwork captures a self-portrait in oils. The texture on the yellow sweater was done by applying and scraping the paint with an candle stick. Seemingly anonymous, the faces are built upon the viewer’s perception. With the interpretation of the viewer the face gains presence. The face looks back rather than the eyes, so we feel emotion more intensely in a process of absorbing the persona. Our own imagination is fired when mentally filling-in the features.
