Infrastructure 1 was created as a site specific sculpture for the show ‘Cosmic Poetics’ which presents to us a personal perspective of Anna Bochkova on the philosophical and artistic movement of Russian Cosmism. Anna Bochkova deals gently with the complex theories behind this movement, questions these concepts and puts forward a discourse based on her autobiography, combing it with narratives of the former East, such as the soviet space program and its infrastructure, socialism, propaganda, the legendary figure of Yuri Gagarin, and Western sputnik shock. The sculptures make allusions to space ships, space suits, helmets, space stations and satellites.
