The source material for this painting was taken from a poolside view at a hotel in Key West I stayed at many years ago. The shadows of the large umbrellas above created repeated patterns on the decking. The colours I used remind me very much of the visual experience and feeling of this part of Florida - warmth and coolness at the same time, bright colours, playfulness and optimism.
