Stylistically, this work represents a hybrid between pop art and abstract expressionism, initially used by Andy Warhol in his pre-screen print works between 1960 and 1962. Numerous trips to visit my family in central Nebraska have exposed me to a myriad of weathered signage and paraphernalia from past historical periods. This work exists as an attempt to revive an advertisement for Dupont products utilizing this faux-weathered style; however, the painting itself is constructed of the material it is advertising, latex house paint.
