This work was created as a variation of Andy Warhols ‘Gold Marilyn Monroe’ completed in 1962. However, instead of using a recognizable face, symbols of American corporations and cultures were utilized to explore the ever-developing obsession with commercialism and globalism in contemporary society. Furthermore, Coca-Cola and Pepsi were chosen due to their historical rivalry, deemed the ‘Cola Wars’ which parallels weakened United States and Russia relations during the Cold War. Tense relations between the dominant hegemon of the international sphere that parallels those present today due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in the first quarter of 2022.
