As a designer and artist I am passionate about the part pure design can play in art, and in particular in painting. The Chrysler Building provides such an opportunity to use shape, pattern, and colour in painting. This Manhattan icon offers excitement and design in a painting. Working quickly and spontaneously at large scale was made possible using the rich colours and quick drying of water mixable oil on smooth board.
