My most recent and possibly last painting in the bonsai series. 24k gold leaf was used in the bonsai pot motifs. The pot design is based on “urushi” Japanese lacquerware. I began the sketching the concept of Bonsai Farm years ago on the idea that it would represent the orderly society of Japan. Bonsai are carefully aligned in rows. Upon inspection, pine needles that dropped from the bonsai lie on the tables (see detailed additional images).
