Cindy Jian

About Artist

Cindy Jian was born in Guangzhou, China in 1991. She emigrated to Vancouver, B.C., in Canada, followed by the Bay Area in California. She received her BFA and MA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2014. After graduation, she worked on several public art projects, before creating her own project, “Rock Rock Around the Block,” a two-person rocking chair that uses movement to explore playfulness and intimacy. Jian has also exhibited her paintings in the US and abroad including a two-person solo show at YiLong Gallery in Beijing, and group shows at Orenda Art Works in New York and International Art Museum of America in San Francisco.
